Southern California Mothers of Twins Clubs, Inc to hold TWINS DAY Event to promote support for mothers of multiples

The Southern California Mothers of Twins Clubs, Inc will hold a TWINS DAY Event JULY 13, 2012 at Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center to celebrate multiples (twins, triplets, or more) and promote membership in the dozens of mothers of multiples support groups throughout Southern California.

The rate of multiple births has skyrocketed across the nation in recent decades. Says Judy Gilmore, TWINS DAY event organizer and member of Lakewood/Long Beach Mothers of Twins Club, “Since 1968, The Southern California Mothers of Twins Clubs’ organization has included local groups whose members conceived multiples naturally, by IVF, surrogate, adoption, and more!”
While how their members may have conceived is diverse, so are the complications some of their members face. “SCMOTC includes members who have one or more multiples with autism, Krabbe disease, Cystic Fibrosis, disabilities due to premature birth, members who experienced preeclampsia, stroke, postpartum depression, twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, loss of one or more multiples — even prospective members who have a perfect, spontaneous twin or triplet pregnancy until suddenly...it isn’t. You would think that these issues would be too diverse for one organization to provide support, but the Mothers of Twins organization does just that.”
In addition to all the resources and support provided by local MOM clubs, the joy of celebrating multiples together makes being a member FUN! Most MOM clubs host activities for families and MOMs monthly.
